Review of Wealthy Affiliate University

I must confess something. I really don’t like the $1 trial offers. I almost always forget to cancel and wind up getting charged the whole membership fee. However, when I saw this offer, I actually paid a little bit more attention to it. I was talking to someone on Facebook about affiliate marketing a few minutes before I read the email so it seemed like God was trying to tell me something. What exactly am I referring to? It’s a training program/forum about affiliate marketing called Wealthy Affiliate University. Don’t let the title scare you off. They are not suggesting that you can become a wealthy affiliate overnight. Quite the contrary. Over and over again they remind you that it takes time to build a successful affiliate business.
What I do like about the community is that you already know going in that these are people that are committed to improving their business. I like the in depth training that is offered. They have modules about PPC, SEO, and article marketing. There are a ton of tools there designed to help you with your business. They also have a jobs board. If you have any skills that business owners will find useful (writing, translation, video creation) post it in that section after you become a member. You can also browse jobs and bid on the jobs. I placed several bids on my first day and got an order to write articles for $30. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot of money, but remember that I got this off of a $1 investment. Now your results will vary from mine, but I just wanted to share with you what was possible if you act fast.
I do know that the trial offer is not going to be around that much longer. Please check this out now while the trial offer is still available. If you miss out, don’t say I didn’t tell you about it. Why I love affiliate marketing
Okay so I’ve been recuperating from a hospital stay which means I have been playing catch up lately and I get one of those wonderful emails saying that I’ve just made a sale. Whoo hoo! What makes this even more special is the fact that I haven’t done any active marketing during the last two months because I was sick. Affiliate marketing is awesome because all you have to do is plant the seed and the harvest will come.

Cross Blog Conversation with Connie Ragen Green re: using twitter to harvest new affiliates
I came across this blog post from one of my friends, Connie Ragen Green posted about people using twitter to harvest new affiliates. Instead of just leaving a comment, I decided to write my own blog post about the topic.
I honestly don’t see anything wrong with this. I wouldn’t let the first interaction I make with a potential affiliate be, hi, promote my product. That does seem kind of crass. Instead, I would develop a relationship with this person. Join their mailing list. Follow them on facebook. Buy their own products. This way you can see what they promote to their list and you can determine if your product is a good fit. Also always offer this person a review copy of the product. When people promote your product, they are putting their reputation on the line.
I personally would not object to someone that I had a relationship with asking me to promote their product. I would object if it were a complete and total stranger.
That’s my two cents on the issue. What do you think?
