Today’s small business training post involves commenting on blogs. Did you know that commenting on blogs is a great way to get targeted traffic to your own blog? Here’s why. First, you’ll get the owner of the blog to visit your site. Most bloggers are concerned with what they link to and they want to make sure the sites that they are linking to are on the up and up. You’ll also get some of the blog owner’s regular readers to visit your site (if your comment was compelling enough). Knowing this, I am willing to bet that you are anxious to get out there and start commenting on some blogs. Not so fast. You need some kind of system or you’ll spend all day just commenting on blogs. Make sure you set aside a certain number of minutes per day for commenting. Focus on blogs that have topics similar to yours. The reason for this is because if they are writing about topics related to what your blog is about, you’ll be more likely to get targeted visitors to your blog.

Now I know what you are probably thinking, but DeAnna I don’t have a system for blog commenting. I have just been flying by the seat of my pants. How do I get a system for commenting on blogs? I am so glad that you asked that question. Here is the answer:

This is a totally free resource that provides you with a built in system for commenting on blogs. You get tutorials explaining the system and a built in group of other people anxious to comment on your blog and spread the word about your blog. I stumbled across this system quite by accident. I was reading someone else’s blog (don’t remember whose blog I was reading) when I saw the graphic on their blog. Quite naturally I was curious so I clicked on the icon to see what it was. And the rest as they say is history. Now I am a fairly new member, so I don’t have any hard numbers yet about how effective this has been, but I will keep you posted.

I saw this story about digg allowing you to have your blog’s content automatically fed into digg on Build A Better Blog by Denise Wakeman. So you know me being the curious person that I am, I had to check it out. So I went to my digg account and they asked me to copy a string of text into a post to claim my blog. That’s what I’m doing now. Pretty cool new feature, digg!

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time you will notice that from time to time I will put a video up instead of just text. I’ll bet you were wondering how I did that. Okay so I’ve been using pages instead of posts for certain things on my blog.  However for some reason, ever since I upgraded to the new version of wordpress,  I can’t edit my pages .  So I just have to figure out what I’m going to do.  I may just make those posts instead of pages. I’m not sure yet how to fix that problem.  I’m going to do some more digging.  The point I’m trying to make is that you need to try to find another way to get things done while you try to fix a problem with your blog.
