Etsy Twitter Shop Of The Week-Sumiko Shop

This week’s shop of the week is Sumiko Shop. I was impressed by the quality of the jewelry in her shop. The fact that she uses a lot of red was a big plus for me. I wear a lot of red. That IS one of my signature colors after all.   Here’s one of her gorgeous pieces:

Website Review-SeeYouOnTheCall.com

Yep, you guessed it. It’s Saturday! You know what that means. Website Review Day! (cue happy cheering) Today’s lucky contestant is (drumroll, please)…SeeYouOnTheCall.com. I happened to find out about this awesome resource when I was updating the listing for my radio show on TeleseminarNation.com. SeeYouOnTheCall.com is a great tool to use to promote your telecalls. They have a free and a paid service. Basically what you do is list your telecall and they email it to their list. The paid service allows you to schedule when they email your announcement. The only thing you have to remember is to put your call on the list at least 48 hours in advance.

That’s today’s website review. Go check them out!

New to Social Media? Why You Should ALWAYS Add a Picture to Your Profile

As part of my article marketing challenge, I’ve been writing a lot of articles about social media. Since today is the day that I normally write about networking, anyway, I decided to share one of those articles with you here. Enjoy.

So you’ve joined a new social media site. Fantastic. So you’re at the phase where you are setting up your profile. I bet you are tempted to just use the standard faceless image that they start you off with. After all if you use a picture, that fabled Internet stalker might find you. Here are some reasons why you should always use a picture on your social media profile.

It will let people know you are a real person.
People like to follow people. I know that sounds fairly simple. If you don’t have a picture on your profile, how can I know whether or not you are a real person or just some miscellaneous bot? Adding a picture to your profile helps people to connect with you more.

It will help your old friends recognize who you are.
Many people use the Internet to reconnect with old classmates. If you put a picture on your profile, it will make it easier for people to recognize you. I’ve been able to reconnect with people that I went to middle school with all because they could recognize me from my picture. This is especially useful for females who may have gotten married since they left school and changed their last name.

Social networking is all about discovery.
If you are trying to hide from someone, you probably do not need to even be bothered with having a social media profile. As far as that fabled Internet stalker, if he did exist, he would have found you already. Just kidding. On a serious note, if you are using online networking for the purpose of growing your business, you need a picture on your profile, period. Now what are you waiting for? Take a picture now to use for your profile.

Upcoming Events

I decided to expand this to include events happening next week as well as this week.
Without further ado, here’s what’s happening…

Journchat-This chat happens via twitter every week. This chat is for journalists, bloggers, and public relations professionals. The main purpose of this chat is to provide a platform for the people that report on the news to have an open dialog with each other. The chat takes place every Monday from 7 PM to 10 PM (CST) via twitter. This is a fast moving chat so I suggest you use tweetchat to help you follow the conversation. Also if you are a journalism student, you should add this to your routine. You’ll learn a lot of “real world” stuff in this chat that you may not learn in your college classes. More information can be found here: http://www.journchat.info

Review of Selling In Tough Times By Linda Bishop (Repost)

I know I already reviewed this book.  This post was one of those that I lost when I was “fixing” my blog.  Therefore, I have to repost it so that the information will still be here.  Here goes…

I had the privilege of interviewing Linda Bishop on my Radio Show, DeAnna Troupe Teaches Online Networking a while back.  She is the author of Selling In Tough Times. I got the chance to read this book before I interviewed her and I must say it was an excellent and timely book. This book simply gives common sense strategies any business owner can use to increase sales. Get your copy of this book today by clicking on the icon below.
