LinkedIn Tips-Don’t send me a canned invite
I know I probably spend too much time ranting about it, but people keep doing it, so I’ll keep ranting….Stop sending these canned invites! You know the ones I’m talking about. The invites that LinkedIn prepopulates the message with. The, “I’d like to add you to my network on LinkedIn message.” Boring. That doesn’t tell me anything about who you are. That doesn’t tell me where I met you. I network with a lot of people online. I’m not going to accept invites from anyone that sends me one. I’m through even sending messages to all of those people. I used to try to invite the people sending me the canned invites to follow me on twitter or facebook, but that NEVER works. So now I just archive the invites. I actually saw another good post about this subject by Liz Lynch, author of Smart Networking: Attract a Following In Person and Online (aff).

I am in desperate need for an Oracle DBA- please let me know if you can help or if you know of anyone!! Thank you so much for all of your help!
Provide DBA support for establishing, upgrading and maintaining Oracle databases for development, test and production environments, including performing migrations and upgrades
•Responsible for setting up instances, tablespaces, tables, indices and views.
•Manage database configuration and tuning; follow best practices for enterprise database monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance
•Monitor error log(s), database and log space, user activity and resource utilization
•Monitor database server system resources to ensure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled in a timely fashion.
•Act as escalation point for Tier 1&2 support engineers on database issues
•Provide expert assistance in SQL statement tuning to improve performance.
•Write and tune batch processes & procedures while ensuring data integrity.
•Monitor OS UNIX performance and suggest tuning as applicable to the database environment
•Write and modify complex UNIX shell scripts to manage a Oracle environment and other application processes
•Manage backup/recovery processes
•Monitor database performance and space growth; perform impact analysis and structure design of system changes
•Responsible for architecture for upgrades & new installations
Skill set and level of experience:
-Oracle DBA (production)
8+ years needed
-Oracle SQL
8+ years needed
-PL/SQL
8+ years needed
-Ability to perform DBA activities without the use of tools
3-5 years need
-Hands on knowledge of UNIX, preferably HPUX
3-5years needed
-Understanding of enterprise hardware storage solutions
8+ years needed
-Knowledge of information systems from functional and technical perspectives
2-4 Years needed
VLDB experience a plus
Oracle RAC exposure a plus
Experience in telecoms industry a plus
