As a follow up to my Blog Action Day Post, I was looking for a way to continue the conversation. Much to my delight, I found out that I was added to a list of people on twitter that discuss clean drinking water. I even found out that there was a twitter hashtag – #waterwednesday. So as often as I can, I’ll post something about clean drinking water every Wednesday. You can do something to help this cause. I have a widget on this blog that you can click and perform a free action that will contribute money to help with the cause to bring clean drinking water to everyone in the world.
I am so excited. Today is a milestone for two reasons. First, this is my 500th post! Wow! Those posts really start to add up over the years. Second, I have enough “likers” to reserve the vanity url for this blog! Yay. So if you want to go to the Facebook Like page for this blog, just go to http://www.facebook.com/learnsmallbusiness now and hit like.
What is a vanity url you might ask?
When you first set up a like page on Facebook, you get assigned a url that looks something like this: http://www.facebook.com/pages/something-really-long-that-you-cant-remember
I’m a member of a fairly popular forum, The Warrior Forum and it has been brought to my attention that one of the members of the forum is in critical care. This member is suffering from kidney failure and was trying to raise money for the National Kidney Foundation. I won’t belabor the point here. Just go to this thread for more information and to find out how you can help.
Quick announcement for you!
I wanted to let you know about an important online event I’m taking part in on October 15th, called Blog Action Day.
Each year bloggers from more than 100 countries come together and blog about a single important issue, and this year’s topic is clean water.
The event includes thousands of blogs – including the White House blog and The Official Google Blog – and they’re looking for as many blogs to participate as possible, regardless of their size and focus.
I hope you’ll think about joining me for this event.

As many of you may know, I’m expecting a new baby in February. So as I’m sure you can imagine, especially if you are a parent, I won’t have nearly as much time to blog as I did before I had a newborn baby in the family. With that being said, I’d love to have a few guest bloggers between February and April to give me time to recuperate and get my schedule adjusted to having a new baby. If you write about business related topics or social media, I’d love to have you here on my blog. If this interests you, mention your interest in the comment section as well as a way for me to contact you. Ideally, I’d like to hear from you before December 31, 2009 so I can plan when your blog post will appear. I’ll be posting more details as we get closer to that date.
Wow, I’ve been gone from my blog way too long. Here’s why, I’m expecting a little girl in either early March or late February. I’ve been taking it easy lately.
So today is Blog Action Day and the theme is climate change. Now I had to seriously think of a way to make the theme fit in with the overall theme of my blog. So here’s what I came up with…
As much as possible, try to think of “green” solutions for your business. Do you really have to print out that 45 page ebook? Try saving it on your hard drive for future reference or you could just print out the pages you need instead of printing out the whole ebook.
