Organic vs. Inorganic Twitter List Building

twitter

One of my good friends, Carlton Flowers, posted a podcast about organic vs. Inorganic Twitter List building. Of course I had to respond with a blog post about the topic. Here goes…

First of all, I need to explain what I mean when I say Organic and Inorganic.
Organic basically means you build your list manually. In other words, you seek people out based on a common interest or geographical location, follow them and then hope they follow you back.

Inorganic is when you buy one of those programs that promises to give you x number of followers a day and automatically follow those people back.

What is my opinion? I’m so glad you asked! I don’t believe in using automated means to find followers. I prefer to follow people manually. I know this means that it takes me a while longer to follow new followers, but I feel better doing it that way, because then I know who I’m following.

So that’s my take on the issue. What do you think?

Do you use an ecourse to promote your business? List it here for more exposure

If you use an ecourse to promote your business (and you should), you need to list your ecourse on this website, Ecourseweb. It’s free to list your ecourse on this site. The only thing that you have to do is give them a reciprocal link. I think that’s reasonable. So check out ecourseweb when you get a minute.

Advice For People That Don’t Like Marketing…

Yesterday one of my buds on twitter, Leesa Barnes, posted a question that made me think about it all day. She asked for advice for people that don’t like marketing. So here’s my answer…

If you don’t like marketing, learn to like it. Seriously. Without marketing your business will perish. If no one knows you exist, you won’t make a dime. I don’t care how good your customer service is or how great the product is that you’re selling. You have to market your business in order to make a profit.

Now in order to get to the point to where you do like marketing, you may need to change your perception of marketing. Instead of calling it marketing, consider it sharing. You’re simply sharing your message with potential clients. Remember that you started your business for a reason. If you don’t share your business with the world, then you’re doing your potential clients a disservice, because they won’t be able to take advantage of the excellent product you deliver.

These are just a few pointers that I came up with to help people that don’t like marketing. What do you think? Post some thoughts in the comments section!
