So there are many people that are boycotting the NFL this year. I’m not going into details as to why. You will have to use Google to find that out. I’m here to give those of you that are boycotting ideas of things you can do instead of watching the Super Bowl this year. This blog post was inspired by a question I posted on Facebook. I admit that I was surprised by the number of comments I got.
So here are my ideas:
1. Use this time to make videos to post on YouTube. Give the other people that are boycotting something else to watch.Details
This post is a feeble attempt to round up all of the resources that I have seen posted on Facebook in the aftermath of the Hurricane in Texas. I don’t have much money right now, but I do have a blog and a social media following. With that being said, I do believe in using the resources that I have to do the most good that I can. So I’m putting together this post in the hopes that it can help those of you that wish to donate money or send items to the people affected by this tragedy. Now, these resources are not grouped in any particular order. I have just posted them as I saw them get posted on my Facebook page. I will post more updates on my Facebook page as I see them. So here are the resources for those of you that want to help out.Details
So you may remember a while back I did a review of my friend Adrienne Graham’s book, No You Can’t Pick My Brain It Costs Too Much. Well, I just wanted to give you an update on how that is going for me.Details
For a writer with a solid funnel in place, it’s easy to take a look at the number of subscribers at each level of the funnel and predict pretty accurately what the sales are going to be from day to day or week to week.
If you’ve got a funnel in place, though, and your numbers aren’t looking great, chances are you have a leak somewhere. Your funnel has a hole (or two or three) where subscribers are falling through. There are four common causes for funnel leaks, and once you spot them, they’re pretty easy to fix.Details
This is a little different from the normal type of post I make. This is for my fellow workaholics that may be reading this post. This is a holiday weekend for most people in the US. Take some time for yourself this weekend. Even if it’s just an hour. Find some time to pause. It’s easy to fall into the trap of, “Oh I have to work on my business every free minute that I have.” While it is true that you do have to invest time in your business, if you don’t take care of yourself, you will burn out.Details
As a small business owner, you may be tempted to bend your rules a little bit to get clients. That is not a good idea. People talk. If you do one thing for one client and then try to do something different for another client, people will notice. You don’t want to get a reputation for being flaky. Now will you lose some clients because of your policies? Perhaps. But that just means that that particular project wasn’t a good fit for you. That doesn’t mean you won’t get other clients. You will. There will be people that will be glad to abide by your rules. Just be patient and continue to stick to your guns. The people that decide they don’t want to do business the way you do are just helping you keep your calendar clear for the people that will follow the rules you have already set forth. Remember, you set these policies in your business for a reason. Be firm. Don’t back down just trying to get a client. You will wind up regretting it in the long run.Details
Studying the metrics of what you do is a very important part of having a successful business. Without looking at the numbers you really cannot know exactly why you experienced either success or failure. You can make assumptions, but when you don’t have to do that it’s better to use facts to ensure that your efforts aren’t a waste.
* If You Can’t Measure It Doesn’t Exist – When you set goals, they should be something that can be expressed in numbers: clicks, page views, sign-ups, buys and so forth. You can even assign values to conversions so that Google Analytics tells you what a particular conversion is worth to you without you having to leave the system.Details
