Tips For Good Customer Service

This post has been on my mind for a while. It has just taken me a while to sit down and write it out. Today I’m talking to you about customer service. I know it’s not a very sexy topic, but it needs to be discussed. In today’s competitive marketplace, you need every advantage you can get. Having good customer service is one good way to distinguish yourself from your competitors. Here are some things you can do as a small business owner to make sure your customers have a good experience.

Is your tech support hurting your brand?

I recently had problems with an online service I was trying to use. I was trying to get a quick response because I was trying to get something together quickly. This particular company’s official tech support responds to tickets kind of slow for my tastes, so I went to the Facebook group hoping to find another user that could help me quicker than their support team could. I understand that it’s a popular service and their tech support team gets pretty busy. That’s why I turned to my fellow marketers for help. I did get help from one of the users. The company’s official representatives didn’t answer my questions. All they did was refer me to a video and then ultimately deleted my thread. I’m not naming names, because I’m sure they had their reasons. Maybe I didn’t post in the proper place. I can deal with that.


Advice For People That Don't Like Marketing…

Yesterday one of my buds on twitter, Leesa Barnes, posted a question that made me think about it all day. She asked for advice for people that don’t like marketing. So here’s my answer…

If you don’t like marketing, learn to like it. Seriously. Without marketing your business will perish. If no one knows you exist, you won’t make a dime. I don’t care how good your customer service is or how great the product is that you’re selling. You have to market your business in order to make a profit.
