When you’re busy running a business and working a job, it may be tempting to take shortcuts when it comes to meals. It may be tempting to order from places like GrubHub or UberEats. However, these purchases can start to add up over time and “eat” away at the money you’re making from your business. It’s a lot cheaper and healthier to cook your own meals at home. For one thing, you don’t have to worry about whether or not the person preparing your food is being as clean as you would like for them to be if you are the one preparing your food.
Here are some things you can do to make it easier to eat home-cooked meals rather than going out all the time.
Meal planning is a great way to make it easy to have home-cooked meals available during the week. The best way to do this is to do it on your off day. Take one day to plan out your meals for the rest of the week. That means every meal, snacks included. If you do this, then you won’t waste time trying to figure out what to eat. You will just be able to grab whatever meal you have planned for that day and just heat it up.
Cook double portions.
This goes along with meal planning. Instead of just making enough for one meal, make enough for the next day. So that way you already have your lunch prepared for the next day and you only have to worry about dinner. You can do this if something prevents you from making your food for the whole week. It’s not as good as having all your meals for the week done, but it’s better than spending that money on fast food.
Have the proper tools.
Another thing that will make it easier for you to make meals at home is to have the proper tools. My personal favorite is my slow cooker. My George Foreman grill is a close second, followed by my personal blender (for smoothies). You can also use a larger blender to make smoothies in big batches so you can freeze them for later. Having the proper tools makes it easier for you to want to get in the kitchen and prepare the meals yourself.
